This is my brother’s favorite. A crisp is much easier and less time consuming than an apple pie, (although in my opinion, apple pie trumps apple crisp) but generally apple crisp is loved by all, especially people who aren’t pie crust lovers (like me) and I make one every year for Thanksgiving. 🙂
INGREDIENTS:
Filling:
7 large granny smith apples, peeled and sliced
1 TBSP flour
1 cup of sugar
2 TBSP cinnamon
Topping:
2 sticks room temperature butter
1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup quick cooking oats
DIRECTIONS:
Mix apples and filling ingredients first and set aside. Blend topping ingredients with a pastry blender, or your clean hands. Pour filling into a 9×13 inch casserole dish and top with the topping.
Bake at 350° for about an hour. If topping starts to burn, cover with foil for the remainder of the cooking time.
