Holiday Spritz Cookies

Spritz Cookies

This is hands down, the BEST spritz cookie recipe ever.  Better than anything you’ll find on the box of your cookie press, trust me.  Follow the directions exactly, and this dough will glide right through your cookie press to absolute cookie perfection.

This is my Aunt Susan’s recipe, and I have been eating these cookies at Christmastime for years.

A spritz cookie is a delicate, shortbread like cookie, that is normally pressed into a pretty shape with a cookie press.  My cookie press is currently on the fritz, so I just rolled the dough into little half inch balls, flattened them a bit and added sprinkles.

You can add any color/type of sprinkles you like. 🙂

Enjoy!

Ingredients:
1 C butter
1 C powdered sugar
2 egg yolks, well beaten for 3 minutes
2 C flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp almond extract
*colored sprinkles if desired

Directions:
Beat egg yolks with a mixer for three minutes and set aside.

Cream butter.  Add powdered sugar, extract, and egg yolks.  If you are going to add food coloring, this is the time to do it.  Add flour and salt.  Mix until combined.

Cookie press onto a cookie sheet.  Sprinkle with colored sprinkles if desired.

Bake 400° for 8-10 minutes until edges are slightly golden.
