Happy Cinco De Mayo!


This is the best homemade guacamole recipe I have ever found.  I started making it about 4 years ago for my husband’s poker night and I have always used this recipe since.  The cayenne pepper gives it just a hit of heat, and it can be left out if you don’t like spicy things.  Guacamole and tortilla chips are a great appetizer and snack for parties.  This snack is gluten free and dairy free. 🙂


3 avocados – peeled, pitted, and mashed
1 lime, juiced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup diced onion
3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
2 roma tomatoes, diced
1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
1 pinch ground cayenne pepper (optional)

In a medium bowl, mash together the avocados, lime juice, and salt. Mix in onion, cilantro, tomatoes, and garlic. Stir in cayenne pepper. Refrigerate 1 hour for best flavor, or serve immediately.
