I was walking through Fred Meyer today, looking for something to do with the chicken in my freezer for dinner and I saw their Pillsbury Croissant Dough sheets were on sale, so I grabbed one, figuring I could come up with something with the things I had at home, and this was the end result. My husband and Daphne loved it– the only thing my hubby said would improve it was sauteed mushrooms– and he is right. 🙂
INGREDIENTS:
 |
Pillsbury Seamless Dough Sheet |
1 Pillsbury Croissant Dough Sheet
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
1/2 of one medium onion, diced
1 clove of minced garlic
1 cup frozen broccoli florets
1 1/2 cups of grated Monterrey Jack cheese (you could use any cheese you want)
Salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
Egg Wash:
1 egg
2 tablespoons of milk or water
DIRECTIONS:
In a medium skillet, start cook your onions over medium heat. When they are just starting to brown, add chicken and garlic clove and cook until chicken is cooked through, and onions have a niced carmelized color and flavor. Add salt, pepper, and garlic powder until you like the taste. (Don’t under-season, this is all the seasoning in the entire dish) Chop up broccoli florets into small pieces, and add to the chicken mixture. Remove from heat.

One Serving of Braided Broccoli Chicken Bake |
Roll out your dough sheet and place it on a GREASED cookie sheet. Slice the sides of the rectangle into 1/2 inch pieces. (Photo below) Place half the cheese down the center of the dough sheet. Place chicken mixture on top of the cheese, and top the chicken with the additional cheese. Starting at one end, alternate sides, folding the pieces dough diagonally over one another.
Brush your finished loaf with egg wash (one egg, 2 tbsp of water or milk, whisked together) and place in a 350° oven for about 15 minutes. Check on it at minute 10 to make sure it isn’t burning. You want the top to be brown, but you want to make sure the dough is baked through.
I am including photo directions below on the braiding process. 🙂
Remove from the oven and slice! Enjoy! Feeds a family of 4.

I have made something just like this before – ooooh, so yummy. 🙂
It was! I was thinking too, you could do anything with this. You could do like a Philly Cheese Steak type thing, or ham & cheese, or meatballs…
