Fact: I love the Seahawks. I bleed green and blue. Because of this:
And, even though I’m 32 years old, because of this:
And this, too:
Many other reasons, also, but this is a food blog, so I will stop.
I got to be at our last NFC Championship game during the 05/06 season, and I can honestly say that when we won, it was one of the funnest moments of my life. The only time I can recollect, ever, hugging a whole bunch of drunk, crazy strangers.
This year, I will be watching from the couch, but when I saw a recipe for Seahawk Doodles on Seattle Flour Child’s blog, I knew I had to make them.
I almost never stray from my favorite snickerdoodle recipe, but I am glad I did. These were very good. Different from my usual, not as thin. Big, soft, plump. Really, really good.
Give these a try for the big game on Sunday in Seahawk solidarity.
Recipe from Seattle Flour Child
Ingredients:
1 cup room temperature butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups of flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
For rolling:
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
4 teaspoons cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 400° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream together butter, sugar, and eggs until light and fluffy. Add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt, and mix until combined.
Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture, coating each one well. Place on the cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake for 8-9 minutes.
Enjoy! And Go Hawks!
I actually have no idea what snicker doodles are, maybe because they aren’t popular in South Africa but these look wonderful and so easy to make. I will have to try them. Thank you
Michelle, definitely give them a try, you will be hooked for life! Thanks for visiting!
Dropped by to use your Mongolian Beef recipe and noticed your Seahawk Snickerdoodles post.. I love both!! Go hawks! Go 12th man! Go Wilson!
Thanks for visiting, Stacy! Go Hawks!
I made these a couple of nights ago. Best Snickerdoodles ever. My wife took them to work the next day. She put them on the table and went to check a phone call. When she came back less than 5 minutes later, they were gone. I’m making them again for our Superbowl party tomorrow!
Thanks for the comment, Fran! So glad you liked them- I am making them for the Superbowl tomorrow, too. Go Hawks!
